Hosted by the Rimé Foundation

2007 Twin Cities

Tibetan Film Festival

A Benefit for the Tibetan American Foundation of Minnesota,

Society for Gyuto Sacred Arts, and the Rimé Foundation

Thursday, May 10 through Sunday, May 13

Riverview Theatre

3800 42nd Avenue South, Minneapolis

The Twin Cities Tibetan Film Festival will premiere ten critically acclaimed films that explore Tibet’s timeless spiritual and cultural traditions and its troubled political history. Opening night will feature explorer Ann Bancroft as guest speaker, who will introduce the film Daughters of Everest and talk about her personal interest in Tibetan culture. A reception will be held at the Riverview Theater immediately following the screening, with free wine and food provided by Everest on Grand and Khyber Pass Café.

The festival will feature an on-going silent auction before and after each screening, beginning on Thursday evening. Proceeds for both the silent auction and film festival will benefit the Tibetan American Foundation of MN, Society for Gyuto Sacred Arts, and The Rimé Foundation, three non-profit organizations dedicated to the preservation of Tibet’s rich heritage by providing access to its spiritual practices and cultural resources.

With growing international respect for the Dalai Lama, millions of people are turning to the wisdom of Tibet, with its enduring messages of compassion, mindfulness and interconnectedness. Its time-honored traditions offer healing to a world rocked by stress, anger, and violence. The Twin Cities are home to one of the largest Tibetan populations outside of Tibet.

The vision of the Rimé Foundation is a world in which wisdom and compassion are the guiding forces in our individual and collective lives, and in which the traditions that enable us to cultivate virtue are honored, practiced, and preserved for future generations. Our mission is to facilitate this process by preserving the spiritual heritage of Tibet, providing access to its texts, teachers, and practices, and fostering the growth of a diverse and tolerant community.

Tickets are $12 for 7 p.m. shows and $10 for all others

Opening night pass is $15/$25 (film only/film+reception)
